The Malaysian KPKT (Ministry of Housing and Local Government) Community Credit Scheme is a government-backed financial initiative that legalises the community credit sector or licensed money lenders in compliance with the provisions under the Moneylenders Act 1951 (Act 400).

Through this scheme, individuals, and communities can gain access to affordable credit to support various local projects and activities, including housing improvements, small businesses, and infrastructure development. The scheme seeks to enhance the socio-economic well-being of communities by providing them with financial resources and opportunities for growth via licensed community credit companies and financial institutions regulated by the government.

Community credit is beneficial for individual borrowers who do not have access or are ineligible for loan facilities from financial institutions including banks due to the lack of supporting documents. It is typically flexible and offers non-rigid loan amounts with a less complicated process and a shorter period for loan approval.
